Introduction to NEET 2025 Counselling
Hi students, welcome to OrderGen. My name is Anil and I am a counselling expert. NEET 2025 paper is over. Your counselling is going to start very soon. At this time, many students, I would say probably 100% of the students, are thinking about which college they will get, and the most important thing is whether they will get a government medical college or not.
Understanding College Admission Based on Rank
So if I tell you, beta ji, that if I am specifically talking about government medical colleges, then today in this blog I will tell you at what rank you can get MBBS, up to what rank you can get BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS. I am going to tell you about all this in this blog today. One very important thing I am telling you is that I will tell you category-wise only.
You can assume that the cut-offs I am going to tell you now are basically the rank at which you are getting admission in a government medical college. I am going to tell you this according to the All India Quota.
State Quota Blogs Are Coming Soon
If I talk about states, I have already planned a separate blog for states. Some research is going on because I am thinking that you should get blogs of all the states at once so that you do not have to search again and again.
So I am telling you very specifically that where all colleges you can get through the All India Quota, and which government medical colleges you can get. For this, today I am going to give you this whole blog dedicated to you. So let’s get started.
Options Through All India Quota
First of all, I would like to tell you what options you have through All India Quota. If I talk about All India Quota, then you have the options of MBBS, BDS, Nursing. These options are conducted by MCC.
Next, if I tell you specifically, we have AYUSH Counseling. If I talk about AYUSH Counseling, then it is conducted by AAACCC. It covers 15% of seats in all government medical colleges. Today I am going to tell you about these 15% seats.
MBBS Rank Range by Category (All India Quota)
Now we start when I specifically talk about MBBS. The categories are UR, OBC, EWS, SC, and ST.
- For UR (General), last year it was 25,050. This year you can assume around 26,000.
- For OBC, the rank will be around 26,500.
- For EWS, the rank will be around 26,000 to 28,000.
- For SC, the rank will be around 14,400.
- For ST, the rank will be around 14,070.
Closing Rank and Patience for Counseling Rounds
In the state quota, you get some relaxation. If someone has 26,000 rank, they need to show 526 marks. Also, they may have to wait till the stray vacancy round in All India Quota. I am telling you the closing ranks, not the opening ranks.
Closing rank is the rank that determines which college was allotted to the student at the last. It varies state-wise.
BDS, BAMS, BHMS Closing Ranks
Now, if I tell you about BDS:
- Last year, around rank 92,000.
- This year, you can be allotted a government BDS seat around 93,000.
Once we complete General category, we move to BAMS:
- Rank can go around 1,11,000.
For BHMS:
- Last year, around 2,20,000.
- This year also, it could go around 2,22,000.
AYUSH Counseling and State Quota Benefits
State quota also conducts separate AYUSH counseling. Every state has a different body conducting it for 85% seats. Your chances increase a lot in state quota.
If I talk about OBC specifically in BDS, you will get 1st rank. In AYUSH counseling, there are high chances of getting a government medical college.
Score Brackets and Counseling Strategy
The 451–550 mark bracket is crucial. A student with 450–500 can play in state counseling, and a student with 500–550 can play in both state and All India Quota counseling.
If someone wants to participate in All India Quota, proper counseling is needed.
Score vs Rank Insights and Tips
NTA released that a 500 rank had 502 marks. Some states offer college at this score. If you belong to SC or ST, you will get a college easily. But the 500–550 bracket needs to fight smartly for seats.
There are many examples from 2021 to 2023 of students with fewer marks getting government medical colleges—not always the preferred ones, but they didn’t waste a year.
Below 400 Marks: Your Options
For those scoring less than 400:
- If SC/ST, go for government medical colleges.
- Others can keep private college as an option.
Private colleges come with a budget—you must be financially prepared.
