Introduction and Common Student Concerns
Hi students, welcome to OrderGen. My name is Anil and I am a counselling expert.
NEET 2025 result is out finally, it is out and I know, as soon as the result has come, your ranks have come in front of you. So the first question in front of you is, “Sir, should I get counselling done?” and the second question is, “Sir, I have so many marks, I belong to this state and category so which colleges can I get? Are there chances that I will get a government medical college? Are there chances of semi-government? Or are there chances of private only?”
So many such questions must be going around in your mind. And to tackle all these questions, I have brought something for you in this video. Okay? And I will tell you that till the end. So you have to stay in it for a lesson that I have brought for you because the biggest, biggest, biggest support is from OrderGen.
Press Release Data and Initial Analysis
First of all, I am going to tell you that NTA has released a press release in which they have mentioned the number of candidates in various score ranges. The topper of this year has 686 marks. There are 73 candidates in the 651 to 686 marks range. Between 600 to 650, there are 1,259 candidates.
Even here, there is no issue. Then, between 551 to 600, there are 10,658 candidates. Those whose marks or ranks are in the 551 to 686 range don’t have any issue. They will get counselling done comfortably. If you need any help in counselling, I am going to tell you about that too. Their chances of getting a college are high.
All India Quota Closing Rank
If I go by the All India quota, the closing rank last year was 25,000, which was on 652 marks. I am telling this in advance for the general quota. So, if we’re talking about a 25,000 rank, then I’m telling you, that was the closing rank.
The Critical 501 to 550 Marks Bracket
This 501 to 550 bracket has 39,521 students. This is the bracket that needs counselling the most. They have chances of getting a college. I told you that the cut-off is always 500 ±10. I said it has become +10, so 510 is going to be the cut-off for All India Quota.
This is the bracket where students actually need to fight for a seat. They must play smart. According to the state, it differs—some states have high cut-offs, some low. Students between 500 and 550 might miss getting a college by just one mark. So, you are in the bracket where you need counselling the most.
Other Score Ranges and Counselling Strategies
The three brackets above you will surely get a college, even if they randomly fill the preference list. But the 39,521 students in the 501–550 bracket may or may not get a college
It depends entirely on how they handle counselling and documentation.
Now, the 450 to 500 bracket—I told you earlier how much counselling is required. You can still go for private colleges or try your state colleges. Some states like Telangana have low cut-offs, so you can try for state government medical colleges. For All India Quota, you can consider BDS, BAMS, and other such options.
For general category students with marks below 450, I suggest going for private BAMS or AYUSH counselling. There are chances of getting into a Government Medical College through Ayush counselling.
State and Category-Specific Counselling Tips
The 450–550 mark bracket spans 100 marks. A student with 450–500 can play in state counselling. A student with 500–550 can aim for both state and All India Quota counselling. But All India Quota will need smart strategy and precise preference list management.
NTA released that 502 marks correspond to a 500 rank. Some states still offer chances of getting a college, especially if you belong to SC or ST category. Again, the 500–550 mark bracket needs to fight smartly. In past years—2023, 2022, 2021—students with lower marks still managed to get a Government Medical College.
Advice for Students Scoring Below 400
Now, what’s next? For those scoring less than 400, if you belong to SC/ST, go for government colleges. Others should keep the private college option open—but private comes with a budget. You should be financially ready for that.
OrderGen Counselling Support and Free Services
OrderGen is known for helping students during and after NEET. For students getting less than 1000 rank, we are offering free counselling. They will get a college—but whether it’s their favourite or best suited depends on their preference list and how they fill it.
Choice filling happens in every round of NEET—not like JEE where it’s once. Round 2 choices also need to be filled carefully. The counselling for these students will be completely free.
